The first of Women’s criterium races was held yesterday in perfect weather conditions. Hosted by Lidcombe Auburn Cycling Club (LACC) 18 women started in 2 grades which was a great turnout for our first event.

Both grades worked very hard on the mainly flat circuit at the Tennis Centre SOP. In A grade special mention to Sue Forsyth and Amber Jenkins, 2 very strong local riders for guiding some of the newer riders to A grade with some great advice and encouragement. Comments from the B grade were fantastic with all the riders finishing the race as a bunch and for some the joy of having a womens grade and being able to contest the sprint was a whole new experience against racing against the men and then not having the strength to match them and being able to ‘have a go’ for the sprint.

Full results from the races available shortly. Don’t forget to check the Racing page for the next event.
